🐾 Horse & Foal
Watch the video and meet Horse & Foal!
Baby Name
A baby horse is called a foal! If it's a boy, it's also called a colt. If it's a girl, it's called a filly.
Home
Horses live on farms and ranches. They sleep in a cozy stable called a barn, in a stall filled with soft, dry hay called bedding.
Food
Mama horse feeds her foal warm, creamy milk. As the foal grows, it starts to munch on sweet grass, hay, apples, and crunchy carrots!
Mama Helps
Mama horse licks her foal clean right after it is born. She stands close to keep it warm and safe, and uses her big body to shield it from wind and rain.
Baby Learns
A foal learns to stand up within just ONE hour of being born! Soon it is trotting, cantering, and even galloping alongside its mama.
Wow Fact
Foals are born with legs almost as long as an adult horse's legs — that's why they look so tall and wobbly right away! Those long legs help them run fast and escape danger very quickly.
